Know Your Sexual Health Rights As a Minor
If you are under the age of 18, your parent or guardian may need to give permission before you get some sexual and reproductive health care services. However, based on your age, you have a right to access certain sensitive, confidential health care services, such as sexually transmitted infection (STI) prevention, without a parent’s or guardian’s consent. Here are some examples:
| Service | Under age 12 | Age 12 or older |
| Pregnancy-related services | ||
| Family planning services | ||
| Abortion services | ||
| Sexual assault support | ||
| STI prevention and treatment | ||
| Drug and alcohol abuse counseling | ||
| Outpatient mental health treatment and counseling |
